Katherine May

Originally from London, Katherine obtained her Masters of Science in Substance Misuse from the University of Sussex, UK, in 2005. She then went on to complete a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Surrey in 2010, as part of the highly competitive National Health Service funded program, where she specialized in the treatment of addiction and co-occurring disorders. Katherine’s training has given her experience in both integrative clinical practice as well as scientific research, and she has recently published work on cutting edge treatment for psychosis.

Katherine has worked in community mental health clinics both as a clinician and program director. She has provided individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults, as well as their families. Katherine has also worked extensively within the criminal justice system. Motivated by her own experiences of growing up in a family where addiction was present, Katherine is passionate about working within the field of addiction and drug dependence. Katherine believes in an integrated and holistic approach to addiction and strives to involve family as much as possible in treatment. Her experience as both a clinician, researcher, and administrator make for a well-rounded and thoroughly collaborative approach to multidisciplinary treatment.

Katherine moved from the UK to Hawaii in 2010 and she currently lives in Kailua Kona with her husband. Katherine is an avid runner and integrates yoga and mindfulness meditation as part of her daily life.

She is thrilled to be part of the dynamic and dedicated team at the Exclusive.
